
EU companies are increasingly adopting AI technology

According to 2023 data, 8% of EU companies with 10 or more employees are using artificial intelligence (AI) to support business operations.
AI includes systems that use technologies like text mining, computer vision, speech recognition, natural language generation, machine learning, and deep learning. These systems collect and analyze data to predict, recommend, or make decisions autonomously to achieve specific goals.

Denmark (15.2%), Finland (15.1%), and Luxembourg (14.4%) lead the EU in the percentage of companies using AI. On the other hand, Romania (1.5%), Bulgaria (3.6%), Poland (3.7%), and Hungary (3.7%) have the lowest adoption rates.

In 2023, AI-based software for automating workflows and assisting decision-making (robotic process automation) is the most widely used, adopted by 3% of companies. This is followed by text mining (2.9%) and machine learning (2.6%). Other AI applications include speech recognition (2.5%), image recognition (2.2%), natural language generation (2.1%), and autonomous robots or vehicles (0.9%).
